You have seen Tulsi Chakraborty as a grocer who doubled up as a schoolmaster, Prosonno Gurumohashoy, teaching a bunch of indifferent students in PATHER PANCHALI. The great Master gave Chakraborty another memorable role in PARASH PATHAR in which he (Chakraborty) was the central character.
Chakraborty put up an exemplary performance as a lowly clerk in a Calcutta-based private firm who chances upon a philosopher's stone that turned every metal it came into contact with into gold. The stone made him a rich industrialist but eventually became the cause of his downfall as he gave out his secret under the influence of alcohol to a group of eminent citizens during a party.
But what happened to the stone? Did the police seize it? Did Chakraborty throw it away in despair? To know the answers, watch this extraordinary film that was made as a comic respite before the completion of the Apu trilogy. Tulsi Chakraborty is brilliant.

Loveable Film
