Daku Gondaria, Captain Spark, and Captain Felu

Maganlal Meghraj, a Benares-based businessman, made his fortunes smuggling antiques out of the country. He offered Umanath Ghoshal, a onetime college classmate, a modest sum for the priceless idol of Lord Ganesh that belonged to the Ghoshal family and was in the custody of Umanath's father Ambikanath. When Umanath refused, he threatened him that he would get hold of the idol somehow.
The night after that, the idol is found missing from Ambikanath's safe.
Private investigator Feluda, in Benares for a Pujo holiday with cousin Topshey and friend Lalmohan Ganguly (alias Jatayu), is assigned the task of nabbing the culprit.
Umanath's seven-year old son, Ruku, living in a make-believe world of mystery thrillers, tells Feluda that the missing idol was with the King of Africa.
Meanwhile, a new Guru, Machhlibaba, has made a stopover at Benares, bestowing converts with sacred fish scales. One of his prominent disciples is Maganlal Meghraj. Despite the Baba's claims of having swam all the way from Gangotri (the origin of the Ganges in the lower Himalayas), Feluda finds everything about the Baba "very fishy".
As the case unfolds, Feluda is convinced that an insider in the Ghoshal household was behind the disappearence of the idol.
Watch JOY BABA FELUNATH to know how Feluda recovers the idol. Who was the culprit? Which insider in the Ghoshal household was involved? Was Machhlibaba a fraudulent guru, as Feluda suspected? What was Maganlal's role in the whole affair?
JOY BABA FELUNATH remains one of the MASTER's most enjoyable films, replete with mind-boggling scenes and extra-ordinary editing.
It is customary to compare JOY BABA FELUNATH with SONAR KELLA. If SONAR KELLA was a brilliant film, JOY BABA FELUNATH was no less.

Soumitra, Siddhartha and Santosh are, as usual, very good.
But in my opinion, this film remains less enjoyable, compared to SONAR KELLA.
